M16A4

Today we're featuring the M16A4 weapon created for an unannounced project. This rifle, given its history and importance in the US military, we wanted to do it justice. We took an asset we created years ago and updated it to modern specs and quality. Seasoned Ryzin Artist, Fridock did an amazing job on this down to the finest of detail possible. We've been working with Fridock for years now and it's a pleasure sharing our latest collaboration.

Looking closely at the texturing, you can see fine hair, dust, and lint buildup as it sticks to the oils of the gun. This is something that all too often goes unnoticed when creating guns of high fidelity, it’s nearly next to impossible to keep clean as the oil acts as a glue picking up dust around it. The wear, dust, all of it, is intentionally designed to be uber subtle, but noticeable enough to be realistic. The materials on guns like these are quite matte and dull, so it's always challenging getting interest without making it too unrealistically shiny.

Another detail we love that Fridock added is the incredibly fine grain detail of every single surface, and the way that each has its own subtle density and shape variance.

As always, we love sharing what we do every day, we hope you enjoy viewing and reading these as much as we do creating them.
