PSG-1

Texture Tuesday / PSG-1 Sniper Rifle

For this weeks Texture Tuesday we’re featuring the PSG-1 short for Präzisionsschützengewehr, German for precision shooting rifle. This infamous sniper rifle has been seen in numerous games including the “Metal Gear” series, “Grand Theft Auto IV,” and the “Resident Evil” series. It can also be spotted in TV shows and films such as “Angel has Fallen,” “Kill Bill Vol. 1,” and “Lethal Weapon.” The PSG-1 has been described as "one of the most accurate semi-automatic sniper rifles in the world."

This specific asset was created for an unannounced project in 2018 by Ryzin Art Team member Zach Shertz, and the Optic was created by Kyle KR. This model is technically a hybrid of a PSG-1 and MSG-90, but still closer to a PSG-1. We took extra care when creating this to make it clean and not overly grungy and battered, apart from adding light grease and scratches from typical manual operation. Zach says, “the iconic pistol grip was my favorite part of the process.” It was was an honor for #RyzinArt to create such an iconic weapon.
